Best personal trainers in Wake Forest

Personal training in Wake Forest mostly happens without a storefront. Inspire Fitness Training is the clearest example. Penny, its NASM-certified trainer, builds programs for women 35 and up in perimenopause and menopause, including support for clients on GLP-1 medication, and she trains in the client's home, at a gym or over video. One-on-one sessions start at $80 and a six-week program is $350. Her South White Street address is a business address with no studio floor, and she publishes no phone, so the way in is the free 15-minute consultation on her site.

Downtown, Nourish Studios has the largest personal-training roster inside town limits, and GYM:30 in Gateway Commons has run coached training since 2017. The rest of the list reaches into Rolesville, Knightdale, Wendell and north Raleigh, and each of those entries says which town it is in. Use it to find the format you will keep showing up for, whether that is a trainer who comes to your house or a coaching gym with a floor.

How we chose

Wake Forest came first, then the ring towns because the category is thin inside town limits: Fresh Start Fitness is in Rolesville, HHP Athletics and Arise Athletics are in Knightdale, Ritch's Gym is in Wendell, and Oak and Iron Fitness is in north Raleigh, 20 minutes from downtown. Each had to show a 2026 signal of being open, facts come from the business's own site, and awards count only when named and dated. Big-box gyms and franchise class chains were excluded, along with physical therapy practices. Level Ten Fitness in Rolesville and Z-FIT in Wakefield could not be confirmed open. Franklinton and Youngsville produced no verifiable personal-training studio. Entries are alphabetical, not ranked. Hours and prices were last checked in September 2026; call about anything an entry says is unconfirmed.

Arise Athletics

Husband and wife Colton and Giannina Tessener have run this Knightdale coaching gym since 2017, and they recently moved it from McKnight Drive to the Cross Point Community Church campus on Steeple Square Court. The model is guided workouts only: personal training and group classes, with no self-directed gym access. Colton is the strength and conditioning coach and Giannina the group fitness instructor, with what the site calls nearly 30 years of combined experience; certifications are not listed. Every new client starts with a free goal consultation, and prices are not published.

Why we chose them

  • Knightdale Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year 2017, per the gym's own About page.
  • The LLC dates to June 13, 2016 per BBB, with the gym opening in 2017.
  • Group classes are named Unleashed, Untamed and Evolve, per its ClassPass listing.
  • BBB and the Town of Knightdale directory still list the old McKnight Drive address; use Steeple Square Court.
  • Its About page also claims three finalist finishes for Best Gym in Wake County, without naming the publication.

Address: Knightdale — 1001 Steeple Square Ct.

Bodies by Elle

Elle Robbins trains women only, and she comes to you: homes, workplaces, gyms and community centers, with the Wake Union Church Road area at the south edge of town as her base. Her About page traces a first fitness certification at 17, a biology degree and years of teaching aerobics at Jack LaLanne studios. The focus is functional anatomy, posture correction and injury prevention. Her published rates are the lowest one-on-one prices in this file, but her site prints no address, so confirm where you will meet when you book.

Why we chose them

  • Private one-on-one training at three to five sessions a week is $35 an hour, per the pricing page.
  • A three-month, 36-hour commitment drops the rate to $30 an hour.
  • Semi-private sessions of 90 minutes cost $60 and take up to four people.
  • Her certifying body is not named on the site, which lists a science degree and decades of teaching instead.
  • Senior group fitness runs twice a month, per the site.

Coach Val's Endurance Coaching and Personal Training

Valerie Bailey Grasso, who goes by Coach Val, has no studio: she brings strength training to clients' homes and offices in Wake Forest and Rolesville. Her stated niche, per the Wake Forest Chamber listing, is customizable strength workouts for seniors ages 50 to 90, built around flexibility, endurance, balance and strength. She is also a Road Runners Club of America certified running coach, a credential her site dates to 2008, and she coaches endurance athletes and runs group bootcamps. Prices are not published; reach her by phone or the form on her site.

Why we chose them

  • Her site says she has been an RRCA-certified running coach since 2008.
  • The Wake Weekly 'Best of the Best' honor on her site carries no year, so ask which one.
  • She is a member of both the Wake Forest and Rolesville chambers of commerce, per her site.
  • Other fitness certifications are mentioned on her site but not named.
  • Her chamber listing is current, but no dated 2026 post could be read, so confirm she is taking clients.

Fresh Start Fitness

Joe Tucker trains out of a private home studio in a Rolesville subdivision and in clients' homes, and his credential list is the longest in this file: his About page names him a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Senior Fitness Specialist, Nutrition Coach, Youth Exercise Specialist and Oncology/Cancer Exercise Specialist. The tagline is 'Young at Heart,' and the programs are aimed at seniors and at people in or after cancer treatment. Virtual and hybrid options exist as well. Published prices come from his booking page, and one set of them looks mis-entered, so confirm before paying.

Why we chose them

  • A single session is $100 and a private-studio 10-pack is $700, per the FitSW booking page.
  • In-home sessions cost more: a 10-pack is $900 on the same booking page.
  • A 12-week online or hybrid program is $385.
  • The booking page's 20-session prices read lower than its 10-session ones and look mis-entered; confirm before buying.
  • The booking page adds Adaptive Fitness Trainer and CPR/AED to his certifications.

GYM:30

The name comes from the 30-minute group strength classes it opened with in 2017; today the Gateway Commons gym, off Capital Boulevard on the south side of town, sells semi-private coaching, one-on-one personal training, app-based online coaching and CrossFit classes. Co-founder Nick Trickett is the director of fitness, and coach Dale Belanger holds NASM certifications. A recovery room with infrared sauna, red light, EMS and vibration sits next to the training floor. Pricing is by membership tier and is not published; a free 'No-Sweat Intro' is the first step.

Why we chose them

  • Open since 2017 with the same two founders, per its About page and the Wake Forest Chamber listing.
  • Its Get Started page said 'Limited spaces available in September' in 2026, a sign coaching slots are capped.
  • Coach Dale Belanger's NASM certifications cover personal training, physique and bodybuilding coaching and core strength, per the site.
  • Clinic services, including lab work, hormone panels and IV therapy, run under the Body Bar Wellness name.
  • Coaching is sold as membership tiers instead of per-session prices, and rates come only by form.

Training happens in your home, at your gym, over video or as a mix of those. The studio also runs trampoline fitness, InBody body-composition scans and youth classes. Why we chose them

  • Prenatal personal training is a named option, and a prenatal yoga instructor is on staff.
  • Lagree Microformer classes are capped at six people, per the studio's site.
  • A May 6, 2024 Wake Forest Downtown feature described it as already running, so it opened by 2024.
