Plum

About

plum is an independent community arts space on South Blount Street in downtown Raleigh. It is interdisciplinary by design, which in practice means art, music, dancing, learning, making and experimenting all happening under one roof, in whatever combination the week calls for.

The space is housed in the old LUMP gallery building, a name that carries weight in Raleigh’s art scene, and plum aims to be a steady presence there in its own right. The goal is a place where curiosity and connection matter as much as finished work does.

What to know

  • Artist residencies and workshops are part of the programming.
  • Cultural events and community engagement projects also run out of the space.
  • Plum is operated entirely by volunteers, none of whom take wages, tips or salaries.
  • Donations pay for art supplies, sound equipment, furniture and the artists themselves.
  • An events calendar on the website lists what is coming up.
