Best Indian food in Morrisville: biryani, thali and chaat

Morrisville is about 35 minutes from Wake Forest on I-540, past RDU on the way into Research Triangle Park, and it has the deepest Indian-food bench of any town in the Triangle. INDY Week reported on January 15, 2026 that the town had the highest Asian Indian share of any western Wake town, 34.3 percent in 2023, and the restaurants follow that: Andhra meals, Hyderabadi biryani, Bangalore tiffin, Gujarati street food, a chaat house, Indo-Chinese kitchens and one North Indian tandoor house.

The list sorts by region more than by price, so pick by what you want to eat. Naga's runs the big South Indian buffet, SV Andhra Mess does the unlimited Andhra thali, and Honest is the first U.S. store of an Ahmedabad street-food name. Our read: go on a weekday at lunch, when Naga's buffet and the Andhra thali are at their cheapest.

How we chose

Every entry has a Morrisville address. Honest and Hyderabad House sit on Davis Drive on the Morrisville-Cary line, and Chai Fresh's own site prints both a Cary and a Morrisville address. Cary's Anjappar, Udupi and Nazara are outside the town. Morrisville's Indian restaurants turn over fast: Tower, Dharani, Paradise, Godavari, Rajbhog, Dawat and Pista House have closed, most replaced by restaurants on this list. Facts come from each business's own site.

No Morrisville restaurant placed in INDY Week's 2025 vote, and the N&O bracket finalists could not be read, so no award is claimed. Chains and hookah lounges were left off. Entries are alphabetical, not ranked. Hours and prices were checked in September 2026; BLR Bar & Curry and Chaat Mandi had no 2026 signal, so call first.

BLR Bar & Curry

Bangalore is the reference point at BLR Bar & Curry, on the north end of Chapel Hill Road toward Airport Boulevard, in the storefront that was Sai Krishna Bhavan. The site says the menu "draws on Bangalore-inspired dishes" and calls the place "built around vegetarian cooking," with a bar: Mysore masala dosa, podi idli, rava dosa, Maddur vada, kesari bhath, jackfruit sukka and smoked paneer tikka. Call before you drive over. The site is live with hours and an ordering link, but no dated 2026 signal was found.

Why we chose them

  • Weekend hours open at 9:30 a.m., which points to a breakfast tiffin service.
  • A drinks list includes a house drink called Coconut Garden.
  • Whether it shares owners with BLR Food Street across town is not published on either site.

Address: Morrisville — 10970 Chapel Hill Rd.

BLR Food Street

Morrisville Square's vegetarian Indian option lives on at BLR Food Street, which moved into the storefront that was Tower Indian Restaurant for years. The site calls the cooking "Bangalore style flavors" and the format is chaat and tiffin: masala dosa, pani puri, dahi puri, sev puri, vada pav, gobi 65, Maddur vada, paneer fried rice, gulab jamun and jigarthanda, a drink from Madurai. Pure vegetarian, per the site. Prices are not published online, and the last dated sign of life was August 2026.

Why we chose them

  • The site describes it as "pure vegetarian," with north and south Indian chaats.
  • Lunch closes at 2 p.m. on weekdays and 3 p.m. on weekends before dinner service.
  • Yelp files it as a venue and event space as well as a restaurant.
  • Tower, its predecessor at the address, still appears in the town's business directory though it is closed.

Address: Morrisville — 144 Morrisville Square Way

Chaat Mandi

The only dedicated chaat house in town sits by the Wegmans off NC 54, on Hatches Pond Lane, with a named chef: Sanjeev Kumar, whom the site credits with AAHAR International Food Competition medals and hospitality work in India, Singapore, Bangkok and Macau. Dahi puri, pav bhaji and bhel are the core, and the site describes the aim as recreating curbside stands in India. Call before you go. The latest dated signal found was a September 2025 review, with nothing from 2026.

Why we chose them

  • Dahi puri, pav bhaji and bhel are $12 each on its site.
  • Chef Sanjeev Kumar won AAHAR silver in 2012 and gold in 2013, per the site.
  • Visit Raleigh lists it as woman- or minority-owned, with a $$ price range.
  • Monday hours differ between the homepage and the contact page, so treat Monday as uncertain.
  • The menu leans vegetable but the site does not call it vegetarian only.

Address: Morrisville — 1125 Hatches Pond Ln., Ste. 113, by the Wegmans off NC 54

A chai cafe first and an Indo-Chinese kitchen second, Chai Fresh has run since July 2024 on the Chapel Hill Road strip near Morrisville-Carpenter Road, a few doors from Swagat. Masala chai, South Indian filter coffee and bubble tea share the counter with momos, Manchurian dishes, chilli garlic chicken and "crepe" dosas, including a Mysore-style one and a build-your-own. One thing to know before you go: its own site prints a Morrisville address on one page and a Cary address on another; Axios Raleigh calls it Morrisville.

Charminar Biryanis & Chat

Grace Park's Hyderabadi specialist works from the Town Hall Drive side of the development, an address that has been Adda, Pista House and Betel Indian Kitchen in turn. Charminar calls its cooking "Authentic Hyderabadi & Indian Cuisine" and runs a chaat counter alongside the dum biryanis, with a long vegetarian section of dal, paneer and vegetable biryanis. Its own site would not load in September 2026, so the menu and hours here come from its Toast ordering page, and the last dated signal that it is open was June 2026.

Why we chose them

  • Chicken dum biryani is $17.99, mutton $19.99 and paneer $15.99 on its Toast menu.
  • Pani puri is $6.99 and samosa chaat $7.99 at the chaat counter.
  • Paneer tikka is $15.99 on the same Toast menu.
  • Closed Monday; lunch ends at 2:30 p.m. and dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
