E. Carroll Joyner Park

About

E. Carroll Joyner Park is a public park run by the Town of Wake Forest on Harris Road, on the north side of town. The grounds mix open meadows with formal gardens, a pond, a pecan grove and old stone walls.

Most people come to walk. Five paved loops wind through the property, so a short stroll with a stroller and a longer training walk start from the same parking lot. In spring the amphitheater hosts the Town’s free Six Sundays in Spring concert series, with food trucks on site.

What to know

  • The Town finished the first phase in July 2009 and opened the park that August.
  • Loop lengths run from the 0.5-mile Garden Loop to the 2.2-mile Farm Loop.
  • Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the park.
  • Alcohol and personal gas or charcoal grills are not allowed.
  • Smoking is allowed only in the parking areas.
