Best things to do in Morrisville
Morrisville is about 35 minutes from Wake Forest by I-540, on the far side of Raleigh between RDU and Research Triangle Park. It has no museum, no downtown and no performing-arts hall, so this is not a list of conventional attractions. What the town does have is professional cricket at Church Street Park and a sports campus at Wake Competition Center where the Carolina Hurricanes practice, plus a calendar of free Town-run festivals that includes its own Holi and Diwali.
The rest is niche and real: what Visit Raleigh calls the state's tallest climbing gym, a national table-tennis center, a toddler play town and a plane-spotting park on airport land. Use the list as a menu. A family with small kids will find a two-hour play session for the under-7s and a free county lake park; a group of adults gets indoor karting and axe throwing; anyone working in RTP can catch a cricket match for free this fall.
How we chose
Every entry sits inside the Town of Morrisville except two that a visitor would look for here: Lake Crabtree County Park is county-run on the town's northern edge, and RDU Observation Park is airport property with a Morrisville address. Each has a dated open signal from 2026, with facts from each venue's own site or the Town and awards only when named and dated. Entries are listed alphabetically, not ranked.
Church Street Park is here for its cricket stadium; the town's other parks are on the separate Morrisville parks list. We left off the AMC multiplex, B&B Theatres Park West 14, which closed January 4, 2026, and Cipher Escape, which appears closed. Hours and prices were last checked in September 2026; call for anything an entry says is unconfirmed.
Church Street Park
Professional cricket is the draw here. The Town-owned park on Church Street off NC 54 grew its cricket ground into a 3,500-capacity stadium in summer 2023, with grandstand bleachers, lit practice pitches and broadcast wiring. Minor League Cricket plays its 2026 season here from September 17 into October; Major League Cricket came in 2023 and 2024 and has not returned. The Morrisville Raptors are the local franchise, though no source we read names them for 2026. Around the ground are a playground, three tennis courts, sand volleyball and two shelters.
Why we chose them
- Minor League Cricket matches at the park have been free and open to the public, per the Town's page.
- The 2026 Minor League Cricket season runs September 17 to October 25 with Church Street Park as one of eight venues, per CricTracker.
- The park closes to general use during tournament weeks, as it did September 28 to October 6, 2025.
- The ground hosted Major League Cricket's first matches in July 2023 and again July 5 to 17, 2024.
- On-site parking fills for big events, so the Town ran overflow parking at Iron Mountain in 2025.

The Hindu Society of North Carolina
About twenty Hindu families in the Raleigh area founded the society in 1976, and its temple campus on Aviation Parkway north of NC 54 is now the anchor of the Triangle's Indian community events calendar. The grounds hold a main temple, a Cultural Hall, the HSNC Auditorium and a multipurpose Main Hall. Visiting is free. The big draws for a visitor are the festivals: the Ganesh Festival from September 14 to October 27, 2026, and Navratri Mahotsav, October 9 to 19, 2026, ten nights of garba and dandiya raas with a live orchestra.
Why we chose them
- Aarti is held daily at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., per hsnctemple.org.
- Festival events may charge admission, and prices are not published on the pages we read.
- A Holi Anand Mela has filled the parking lot with games, henna and food stalls, per a 2022 page.
- The site's Diwali Festival page still shows 2021 dates, so check the events page for this year's.
- The Town of Morrisville runs its own Holi and Diwali festivals separately; see the festivals entry.

Lake Crabtree County Park
Wake County runs this 520-acre lake and the park around it at Aviation Parkway and I-40, across from the airport on Morrisville's northern edge. The park has hiking and single-track mountain-bike trails, a paddling trail, two playgrounds, athletic fields, three rental shelters with grills and a checkout desk for horseshoes, volleyball and badminton gear. Admission and parking are free. Timing matters this fall: the 2026 boat-rental season ended September 7, and the fishing pier and platform are closed for repairs through November.
Why we chose them
- Free two-hour boat rentals ran Fridays through Sundays from May 15 to September 7, 2026, with photo ID.
- Fishing is catch-and-release only, per the county's page.
- Dogs may ride in boats only when wearing life jackets.
- The park closes on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
- We could not confirm from any source whether the park sits inside Morrisville's corporate limits.

RDU Observation Park
Plane spotting is the whole point. The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority runs this free park on airport property near the control tower, and it carries a Morrisville mailing address though it likely sits outside the town limits. A raised platform faces RDU's 10,000-foot main runway, and speakers pipe in live pilot-to-tower audio. There is a picnic area, play equipment, a kids' runway, restrooms and free parking. Sources disagree on the street address, so put the park's name into GPS. RDU's spotting page lists it as open, but we found no dated 2026 notice.
Why we chose them
- The park closes at sunset every day, per rdu.com.
- RDU's aircraft-spotting page names it one of two authorized spotting spots, the other being the top of the central parking deck.
- Yelp gives the address as 2400 W. Terminal Blvd., while Visit Raleigh puts it at West International Drive and Business Street.
Address: Morrisville — West International Dr. at Business St., on RDU airport property
