Best tire and muffler shops in Wake Forest

Inside Wake Forest town limits, the tire and exhaust trade comes down to a few independents and a row of national chains. The one with the deepest roots is Super Deal Tire Muffler & Service on S White St downtown, run by the Ray family since 1973 by its own account, with 16 tire brands listed and a named exhaust specialist on staff. Doc's Garage on Brooks St and Atlantic Tire & Service on S Main St round out the in-town picks.

For custom exhaust bending and high-flow catalytic converters, the true specialists are down the Capital Boulevard corridor in Raleigh: Henry's Muffler Shop on Lacy Ave and Blue Flame Muffler & Tire on Capital Blvd, each about 15 to 20 minutes from town. The rest of the list is in the ring towns, where Wendell Tire Company dates to 1956 and Poole's Garage in Knightdale to 1968.

Our read: for a muffler or a catalytic converter, the drive to Raleigh is worth it.

We counted shops in Wake Forest first, then the towns around it: Wendell Tire Company in Wendell, Ronnie White's and Victory Tire in Youngsville, Pete Smith in Rolesville, Poole's Garage and Knightdale Tire in Knightdale, and two Raleigh exhaust specialists, Henry's and Blue Flame, because nobody inside town limits does custom exhaust. Every shop had to be open as of September 2026 with a dated signal; facts come from each shop's own site or BBB profile. No named award exists in this category.

National chains were left out: Discount Tire, Mavis, Just Tires, Firestone, Pep Boys and Meineke, including the Rolesville Meineke trading as Team Xtreme. Entries are listed alphabetically and are not ranked. Hours and prices were last checked in September 2026; call about anything an entry calls unconfirmed.

Atlantic Tire & Service

The longest-running tire address in Wake Forest is on S Main St south of downtown, a shop since 1985 as Wake Tire & Service Center and later Tree City Tire, per BBB. It now carries the Atlantic Tire & Service name, and that Cary-founded group was bought in 2023 by Goodturn Tire & Auto, a holding company started by two former investment bankers, so this is a regional chain under outside ownership. The Wake Forest page lists inspections, laser alignment, tires, brakes and fleet maintenance. Tire brands, used tires and exhaust are not published.

On Capital Blvd between New Hope Church Rd and Spring Forest Rd in north Raleigh, about 15 to 20 minutes from Wake Forest, Blue Flame pairs exhaust work with tire sales, and its own site now calls it Blue Flame Tire & Auto. It is a Bridgestone dealer with free Wi-Fi and a key drop. The founding year and the owner's name could not be confirmed. Yellow Pages files it under used tire dealers, but the site itself never mentions used tires, custom exhaust bending, catalytic converters or a warranty.

Doc's Garage

Just east of downtown Wake Forest near the railroad, Doc's on Brooks St is a general repair garage, and it is the only other Wake Forest independent whose site lists exhaust work, mufflers and catalytic converters, next to tire changes and rotations. The rest of the menu is front-end work, alignments, brakes and transmissions. The site says over 30 years in business without giving a year, and the owner appears only as Scott in customer testimonials, so no owner is named here. The closest true exhaust specialist to Wake Forest is on Lacy Ave off Capital Blvd in north Raleigh, a Raleigh address about 15 to 20 minutes down Capital from town. The family-run company has worked on Raleigh exhaust since 1998, per its About page, and this is one of its two Raleigh shops, with others in Wilson and Wilmington. The work is custom bending, factory-replacement and high-flow catalytic converters, X-pipes and Y-pipes, diesel exhaust kits and Flowmaster and Magnaflow systems. Rolesville's tire shop on S Main St, the US 401 stretch through town, is the only Wake County location of Pete Smith Auto, a Louisburg company that traces itself to 1947. The brand list runs to ten names, Bridgestone, Michelin, Pirelli and Toyo among them, and the Rolesville menu covers new tires, lube and oil, alignments and brakes. On Hodge Rd south of Knightdale Blvd, Poole's is the oldest shop on the east side of this list, in business since 1968 per BBB and still run by the Pooles. Seven tire brands are listed, Michelin, Firestone, Goodyear, Nexen, Falken, General and Maxxis, in passenger, truck and SUV sizes. The garage does brakes, alignments and suspension work, and lists electric car repairs, an unusual line for a shop this age. Ronnie White's Towing and Tire

Three shops in Youngsville make up Ronnie White's: the NC 96 garage west of town toward Wake Forest, the Main Street Service Station downtown and the County Line shop on US 1 at the Wake and Franklin line.
