1250 Heritage

1250 Heritage is the restaurant inside the clubhouse at Heritage Golf Club in Wake Forest, on Heritage Club Avenue. Executive Chef Jeff Dowdle’s cooking is served in the dining room and out on the deck, and you do not have to play golf to eat here.

Seating under awnings looks out over the 18th fairway and Heritage Lake, which makes it one of the better places in town to sit outside with a drink. Inside, warm wood, flat-screen televisions and a full bar give the room a pub feel.

What to know

• The bar holds all ABC permits, so beer, wine, liquor and after-dinner drinks are all poured.
• Sunsets over the lake are worth planning a visit around.
• The golf course is public access, so a round is open to anyone.
• Guests have marked birthdays here, and the chef has been known to greet diners himself.
