Best restaurants in Franklinton: seven local picks
Franklinton is a small Franklin County town up US 1 from Wake Forest, and Franko's Italian Steakhouse puts the drive at 10 to 15 minutes on its own site. Nearly all of the town's dining sits within two blocks of the Main Street and Mason Street crossroads downtown. Most of the sit-down cooking comes from one local group, Franko's Hospitality, which runs the steakhouse and Atlantic Prime Coastal Kitchen across the street.
A few doors up North Main, Owl's Roost Brewery pours its own beer beside its pizza, so dinner and a pint can share one parking spot. Two breakfast stops out on US 1 cover the early hours. The list is short because the town is small, and each entry carries the caveats a driver should know before heading over.
How we chose
Five picks sit downtown inside town limits; HomeTown Cafe and IRONBOX Breakfast are on US 1, and we could not confirm either is inside town limits. We did not widen to Louisburg or Youngsville, which has its own list. Each place needed a sign of being open as of October 2026, and menus and prices come from the restaurants' own sites where they exist. No entry carries a named, dated award. We left out fast-food chains, a delivery brand, places that closed or changed hands, a bakery, and two bars that belong on the things-to-do list.
Franklinton is small, so the list stops at seven, where verified picks stop. Entries are alphabetical, not ranked. Hours and prices were last checked in October 2026; call about anything marked unconfirmed.
Atlantic Prime Coastal Kitchen
Across South Main from Franko's, the town's only seafood restaurant is the coastal sister in the Franko's Hospitality pair. Tock describes it as a scratch kitchen whose fish is "fresh, never frozen." Starters run from Pimento Cheese at $11 and Smoked Fish Dip at $15 to a Jumbo Lump Crab Cake at $21, and the Maine Lobster Roll is $39. A $24 Prime Burger covers anyone at the table who skips the fish. The space previously held Eli's Tavern & Smokehouse.
Why we chose them
- Reservations go through OpenTable or by phone, according to the restaurant's own site.
- Tock says walk-ins are welcome and that parties larger than six should call first.
- Clam Chowder is $14 and Scallop Ceviche is $18 on the restaurant's own menu.
- Its posted hours cover Tuesday through Saturday evenings only, so plan a weeknight or Saturday visit.
- Its own site gives the address as 20 Main Street, while Tock lists 20 South Main Street.

Curtsy's Café & Burger Bar
At the corner of North Main and East Mason, this café is the only downtown kitchen cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Islands.com singled out its oversized smash burgers in 2026. Mornings bring breakfast sandwiches with cheese and bacon and Belgian waffles. Later in the day the grill turns to burgers, loaded fries and hot dogs. Review summaries on Yahoo Local also mention breakfast burritos, pimento-cheese burgers and matcha lattes. Prices are not published anywhere that could be checked.
Why we chose them
- Evening service runs Wednesday through Saturday only, per Yahoo Local, so confirm with the café before a dinner trip.
- It took over the corner address from the coffee shop Mason x Main, though the changeover date is unconfirmed.
- The order and menu pages on the café's own website returned errors, so call for prices.
- Islands.com named it in an August 3, 2026 walk through downtown Franklinton.

Wings show up on Sundays, with a smoked-wings special that Islands.com noted in 2026. Wine and cocktails sit beside the house beers, and seating spreads inside, outdoors and onto a cigar patio.
