Glo on Main ice rink and sports complex rises in Rolesville

News September 25, 2026 4 min read Suggest a correction

Construction is underway on Glo on Main, a 64,450-square-foot indoor sports building with an ice rink, basketball courts, a ninja-style obstacle course and a restaurant at 414 S. Main St. in downtown Rolesville. The Town of Rolesville’s downtown page now lists the project by name and describes it as under construction, sixteen months after the town broke ground on the former Pine Glo Products site on May 22, 2025.

The town’s project page for 414 S. Main Street describes the plan as the redevelopment of a 4.19-acre former manufacturing site into one building with three principal uses: an eating establishment, an indoor recreation facility, and neighborhood retail sales and services. The site plan, case SDP-24-05, was approved on February 25, 2025. A demolition permit was issued on October 30, 2024, and a pre-construction meeting was held on March 11, 2025. The page names Paul Eitel of Main Street Design Builders as the contact.

Who is building it and what goes inside

Optimal Equity Corp. bought the four-acre property in 2022, according to the town’s May 2025 announcement of the ceremony. The same release named Main Street Design Builders as the construction company and listed three future tenants. The Wake Weekly reported on May 28, 2025, that developer Robert Shaar of Optimal Equity broke ground on a 62,000-square-foot complex and described the goal as building better people as well as better athletes. Mayor Ronnie Currin said at the ceremony, “It’s going to be a great facility.”

The three operating partners named by the town and the Wake Weekly are:

  • Puckmasters Hockey Training will run the ice rink and hockey training side; Nick Griffin of Puckmasters told the Wake Weekly that Rolesville will be the company’s third location and its first outside Michigan.
  • Wake County Basketball Association will use the basketball courts; Ralph Peterson of the association said at the ceremony, “We can’t wait for you to get this done.”
  • Rock Solid Warrior will run the ninja obstacle gym, adding a third location to its gyms in Apex and Fuquay-Varina.

The town’s May 2025 release said the building will include an ice hockey rink, courts for basketball, volleyball, pickleball and floor hockey, a Ninja Warrior training facility and an eating establishment. The downtown page lists an ice rink, basketball courts, an American Ninja Warrior training course and a restaurant.

What the partners have said since

Puckmasters, which is based in Wixom, Mich., announced its Rolesville expansion in a January 10, 2026, release on its website. The release said the company has partnered with the Carolina Junior Hurricanes and the Triangle High School Hockey League, and described its facilities as including real-ice rinks, skating treadmills, performance gyms, shooting and goalie lanes and cognitive development classrooms. League commissioners Brian Pencola and Steven Ismaili said in the release, “Puckmasters fills a massive gap in our region.” The release did not give an opening date for Rolesville.

Rock Solid Warrior posted on December 19, 2025, that steel beams were rising on the South Main Street site and that its Rolesville gym would open in 2026 at 414 S. Main St., Suite 100. The post quoted investor Michael Wasle, who said, “It felt like an answer to prayer.” According to the company’s website, Jeshuah Lewis is the ninja experience director for the Rolesville gym and Brett Strong, a Knightdale native, is the assistant director. As of September 25, 2026, the company’s Rolesville facility page lists the gym as coming at the end of 2026 and gives a phone number of 919-246-6059.

Wake County Basketball Association says on its website that it is building its own facility to hold all of its practices, which are now held at Trinity Academy of Raleigh, Millbrook High School, Heritage High School and West Millbrook Middle School. The association’s phone number is 919-971-2740.

The Wake Weekly reported in May 2025 that completion was expected by the end of that year with an opening targeted for early 2026. That target passed, and neither the town nor Optimal Equity has published a new opening date.

From garment factory to Pine Glo to sports complex

The Rolesville Garment Company occupied the building before Pine Glo, and Pine Glo Products operated there from 1980 to 2021, according to the town’s May 2025 release. The Wake Weekly reported that the garment factory employed about 150 people and that Pine Glo moved to Zebulon. Demolition of the old building began in early May 2025.

The rezoning that made the project possible came first. On June 7, 2022, the Rolesville Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 to change the parcel from General Industrial to General Commercial Conditional Zoning District, case MA 22-04, according to the town’s approval letter dated June 29, 2022. The letter lists the parcel at 4.23 acres and excludes ten uses from the site, including a car wash, gas station, tattoo establishment, vehicle sales and vehicle service. Planning Director Meredith Gruber told Business View Magazine in August 2024 that the town supported the change because “having that commercial zoning on Main Street fits our vision.”

The project sits on the same stretch of Main Street where the town lists two other downtown developments, Cobblestone Village at Main and Young streets and Wallbrook at the south end of Main Street, along with a $23 million Main Street roadway project, according to the town’s downtown page.
