Best photographers in Wake Forest: studios and on-location pros

Plenty of photographers say they work in Wake Forest. Most of them live in Raleigh and run a Wake Forest page for search engines, and the ones who really are local tend to work from home or on location, with no street address and sometimes no phone. Only one pick here has a commercial studio suite in town: Christy Johnson Photography on Heritage Center Drive, in the Heritage area.

Newborn work is the deepest field. Melissa Devoe says she has posed newborns for more than 17 years from a private Wake Forest studio. Senior portraits come next, with Jen Taylor and Sweet Tea Photography already selling sessions for the class of 2027, and Anthony S. Torres handles headshots for local businesses.

Use the list to match a specialty and a budget. Most entries carry published prices; for the others, plan on a consultation before anything is quoted.

How we chose

Wake Forest came first. Each pick needed a dated 2026 working signal plus checkable facts: years in business, specialties, studio or on-location work, published prices, a named credential. Facts come from each photographer's own site and the chamber directory. We have not hired any of them or judged the work. Only seven could be verified as working in 2026, so the list stops there. Jessica Woodall is Raleigh-based but belongs to the Wake Forest Chamber, Anthony S. Torres has a chamber-listed studio in Zebulon, and Rose Trail Images is in neighboring Rolesville.

Photographers with no 2026 signal and Raleigh studios with Wake Forest search pages were left off. Entries are listed alphabetically, not ranked. Prices were last checked in October 2026; ask ahead about anything unconfirmed.

Anthony S. Torres Photography

Headshots and business portraits are the core of this practice, which Anthony S. Torres runs as A.S.T. Photos LLC. His site says he is based in Wake Forest and has been in business since 2003. The work covers executive and team headshots, personal branding, commercial brand shoots (light painting included), senior portraits and family sessions, with boudoir on a separate site. Sessions happen in studio or on location, and every job is custom priced.

Why we chose them

  • His own site says he is based in Wake Forest, but the Wake Forest Chamber lists his studio in Zebulon.
  • He is a Certified Professional Photographer through Professional Photographers of America, per his own site.
  • Booking starts with a 15-minute consultation, and on-location sessions carry an extra fee that is not published.
  • Senior portraits run as three appointments: a consultation, a studio session and a reveal.
  • He is an ambassador for So Many Angels, and his site says he organized its first North Carolina event.

Christy Johnson Photography

Newborns and young children are the focus at this studio, a commercial suite on Heritage Center Drive in the Heritage area and the only storefront-style studio on this list. Christy Johnson's site says she has photographed newborns and little ones for more than 17 years. Sessions cover newborns, baby's first year, maternity and heirloom portraits, plus boudoir under the Luminous name. Session fees run $150 to $250, and collections are priced separately.

Why we chose them

  • The Signature session costs $250 and the Petite session $150, per the studio's pricing page.
  • Session fees do not include any images, so budget for a collection on top.
  • Signature collections run $950 to $2,450, and Petite collections run $450 to $1,150.
  • Anthology plans bundle two, three or four sessions across the first year for $400, $600 or $750.

Jessica Woodall Photography

Raleigh is home base for Jessica Woodall, according to her own site, though her mini-session guide is written for Raleigh and Wake Forest families alike. Her range is the widest on this list: corporate branding and headshots, graduating seniors, weddings and engagements, family portraits, milestone and editorial work, and video. Sessions are by appointment, and mini sessions run on set dates at chosen parks.

Why we chose them

  • The Wake Forest Chamber lists her on South White Street downtown, but her own site says Raleigh.
  • Her homepage says she is now booking 2026 mini sessions.
  • Her mini-session guide names Joyner Park in Wake Forest and Dorothea Dix Park as locations.
  • She is the only photographer on this list whose site sells video work alongside stills.
  • No prices are posted on her site, so ask for a quote by email.

Melissa Devoe Photography

Melissa Devoe works from a private newborn studio in Wake Forest, and her site says she has specialized in posing newborns for more than 17 years. Maternity and baby sessions fill out the rest of the calendar. The studio address is not published, so every session is by appointment. Newborn prices run from $495 for a mini session to $795 for a full one, and digital files come with every package.

Why we chose them

  • The pricing page lists the Keepsake newborn session at $675, between the mini and full sessions.
  • Baby's First Year costs $550, per the studio's own pricing page.
  • A $200 deposit is required to hold a session date, per the pricing page.

Rose Trail Images

Based in Rolesville, outside Wake Forest town limits, Rose Trail Images is a newer business; its homepage says 1+ years. Audrey, the photographer, lives in the Rolesville area and shoots on location. Senior portraits are the focus, and the work also covers families and portraits, weddings and elopements, and mitzvahs and other events. Albums and prints can be ordered, and all three senior packages are priced online with image counts.

Why we chose them

  • A mini senior session costs $400 plus tax for 20 to 30 minutes and five images.
  • The full senior session costs $600 plus tax for about 45 minutes and 15 images.
  • The largest senior package costs $850 plus tax for 90 to 120 minutes and 25 images.
  • A blog post dated August 17, 2026 covers senior photos in the Rolesville area.

Sweet Tea Photography

Katie Campbell runs Sweet Tea Photography, which calls itself a full-service studio in Wake Forest; no street address is published, so plan on booking by appointment. High school seniors and sports teams take up much of the calendar, and the studio also photographs kids, families and headshots. Senior sessions start at $595 and can be shot in studio or on location, with a consultation and an option to split the session.

Why we chose them

  • The site runs a Senior Reps program for the class of 2027.
  • Kids and family sessions start at $550, on location and all inclusive, per the investment page.
  • Studio sessions for one or two children start at $250, per the studio's own site.
