The best pest control companies in the Raleigh area

Pest control is licensed in North Carolina and the register is public, which makes this the most checkable of the six home services lists. The phase codes are the part to know: P covers general pest work, W covers wood-destroying organisms, which in practice means termites, and F covers fumigation. A company treating termites needs the W phase.

Every company below was matched in the state register on its own published phone number, and the entries name the license and the phases it carries. One exception is flagged in its entry, where no record matched.

We have not hired any of these companies and nobody paid to be listed. Every license, rating and date below was checked against the issuing board or the Better Business Bureau on the date at the foot of this guide. Anything a company claims that we could not verify is described as a claim.

How we chose

Licenses came from the NCDA&CS Structural Pest Control public register, matched on each company's published phone number. Ratings came from each company's own BBB profile. One thing to note before you read the ratings: none of these companies is BBB Accredited. An A+ here means BBB has no unresolved complaints on file, and it does not mean the business has been vetted.

Two compliance flags a reader can check today are printed in the entries rather than buried: Swift Creek Exterminating's licensees currently show insurance expired in the register, and Economy Exterminators carries one licensee marked inactive and uninsured alongside three current ones. Neither is a disciplinary action. Companies with unanswered BBB complaints and companies flagged as out of business were dropped. Entries are alphabetical and unranked.

Aardvark Exterminating Company

Termite work is what this company advertises first, and the licensing behind it holds up: the number cited on its BBB profile matches the state register, held by a named licensee and running into 2027. BBB rates it A+ without accreditation. The paperwork is where the questions start, since the company's own account of its age and the record's account of it are years apart, and the published detail thins out fast after that.

Why we chose them

  • License 2184PW, held by Matthew B. Gordon and renewed to June 30, 2027, carries the P and W phases.
  • Both phases are covered, so general pest work and termite work sit under the same license.
  • The site claims a 1983 start, 43 years, while the BBB file begins in 1999, a 17-year gap.
  • No pricing, guarantee, re-treat policy or termite warranty terms are published, so ask for them in writing.
  • The service area lists Angier, Apex, Cary, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Willow Springs and Raleigh, without naming Wake Forest.

Address: Fuquay-Varina — 3325 Air Park Rd.

Advance Pest Control Service

Closest to Wake Forest of anyone on this list, the company covers Franklin, Wake, Nash and the counties around them, and it names Wake Forest directly. Termite work carries most of its published detail; mosquitoes and wildlife are not covered. The state register has its license current into 2027, BBB rates it A+ without accreditation, and the site and the BBB file broadly agree on roughly 20 to 26 years in business.

Why we chose them

  • Licensee Terry E. Southard holds 1380PW with the P and W phases, registered in Wake Forest through June 2027.
  • The W phase covers wood-destroying organisms, which is where most of the published detail sits.
  • Quotes and inspections are both free.
  • No guarantee or re-treat policy is published.
  • The site address and the BBB post office box sit in different towns, so confirm where to send anything.

Address: Youngsville — 1628 US 1 (BBB records a Wake Forest post office box)

Arrow Exterminators

Range is the case for this one: termites through the Sentricon system, plus mosquitoes and wildlife, which most competitors on this list do not touch. Pest inspections are free and BBB rates the company A+ without accreditation. It is worth knowing this is a national chain headquartered in Georgia rather than a local independent, and that the licensed technician on the state register is current into 2027.

Why we chose them

  • License 2386PW is held by David M. Thomas with the P and W phases, renewed to June 30, 2027.
  • That register record is tied to the phone number the company publishes.
  • The age claim does not settle: the site says 62 years, while the BBB file starts in 1938.
  • Sentricon is named for termites with no warranty terms, pricing or re-treat policy published.
  • Wake Forest is not named in the published service area.

Address: Raleigh — 2940 Trawick Rd., Ste. 14

Custom Termite & Pest Control

Family owned and operated, this is one of the few entries whose age claim actually matches the record: a 1999 start on the site against 27 years in the BBB file. Termites and mosquitoes are both covered, Wake Forest is named in the service area, and BBB rates the company A+ without accreditation. The license cited on the BBB profile lines up with the state register, which happens less often in this trade than it should.

Why we chose them

  • The register shows 1313PW held by Robert L. Barr, P and W phases, renewed through June 30, 2027.
  • The BBB profile cites 1313PW1020, the same license the state register confirms.
  • A termite warranty page exists with no terms published, so ask for the warranty in writing.
  • Pricing, free-estimate policy, guarantee and re-treat terms are all unpublished.

Address: Raleigh — 5500 McNeely Dr., Ste. 203

Dodson Pest Control

The guarantee here is written in plain words: if you are not satisfied with your pest control service, the company comes back to make it right. Inspections are free and carry no obligation, and BBB rates it A+ without accreditation. Its age claim is one of the few that agrees with the record, more than 80 years on the site against a 1944 start in the BBB file. The operation is a regional chain headquartered out of state.

Why we chose them

  • No state license record matched the published phone number, so licensing could not be confirmed from the register.
  • Every other company here cleared that register check, with P and W phase licenses on file.
  • Headquarters sit in Lynchburg, Virginia, with operations across seven states and territories.
  • The Raleigh branch page did not resolve, and no Raleigh address or phone is published.
  • Wake Forest is not named, and termite warranty terms are not published.

Address: Raleigh — 7425 ACC Blvd.

Economy Exterminators

Fifty years in North Carolina, and the widest service area on this list: Apex, Carrboro, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Morrisville, Wake Forest, Wendell and Zebulon. Termite work runs through the Sentricon system. Inspections are free and the company says pricing is given upfront. The state register behind the name is busier than most here, and a reader checking it will find more than the current licenses.

Why we chose them

  • Three current licensees appear in the register, all carrying the P and W phases and renewed to 2027.
  • The same register carries two expired records and one licensee marked inactive and uninsured.
  • No BBB profile could be located, so there is no rating or complaint history to check.
  • No warranty terms are published for the Sentricon termite system.

Address: Apex — 2160 N. Salem St.

Innovative Pest Solutions

Two things here are unusual for the trade: the plan prices sit on the website, and the termite work comes with a dollar figure attached. Subscription customers also get free visits between scheduled ones until the problem is solved, which is a re-treat policy with real terms. The site and BBB agree on a 2002 start, quotes are free, and BBB rates the company A+ without accreditation.

Why we chose them

  • License 1255PW is held by Kevin T. Spillman with the P and W phases, renewed to June 30, 2027.
  • The P phase covers general pest work and the W phase covers termites.
  • Plans start at $30 a month.
  • A $1 million termite protection guarantee comes with the Plus and Premium Plus plans.
  • The service area covers Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary and Apex, so confirm Wake Forest coverage.

Address: Raleigh — 5854 Faringdon Pl., Ste. 2

Piper Pest Control

One company out of the 63 across these six home services lists publishes its own license number and has it match the state register, and this is that company. The warranty comes with terms as well: if termites return between treatments within a year, the crew comes back at no extra charge. Staff are in-house employees rather than subcontractors. Wake Forest is its home town and heads a service area that runs out to Louisburg and Franklinton.

Why we chose them

  • Published license 773-P.W. matches the register's 773PW, held by Glenda P. Leggett with the P and W phases.
  • A second licensee is listed alongside her, renewed through June 30, 2027.
  • Site and BBB agree on roughly 40 to 47 years in business.
  • The service area also names Zebulon, Wendell, Knightdale, Rolesville and Youngsville.
  • BBB has it Not Rated for insufficient information, so there is no letter grade.

Address: Wake Forest — 5725 Fixit Shop Rd.

Sustainable Pest Systems

A full price list is something almost nobody in this trade publishes. Here it is: Essentials at $49 a month, Superior at $99, Ultimate at $149, and a $239 initial fee. Termites, mosquitoes and wildlife are all covered, a combination only two other companies here manage. Site and BBB agree within a year on a 2010 or 2011 start in downtown Raleigh, and BBB rates the company A+ without accreditation.

Why we chose them

  • License 1965PW is held by Jeremiah Smith with the P and W phases, renewed through June 30, 2027.
  • The W phase is what covers the termite side of that work.
  • No guarantee or re-treat policy is published.
  • No street address appears on the site.
  • Coverage runs to Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill and Apex, without naming Wake Forest.

Address: Raleigh — 3021 Stony Brook Dr., Ste. 7

Swift Creek Exterminating

Thirty-five years in one city counts for something. In Raleigh since 1991, a date the site and the BBB file agree on, this family-owned company claims more than 30,000 wood-destroying insect report inspections, the kind of volume that matters when a house is changing hands. It belongs to the state pest management association, names Wake Forest in its service area, and BBB rates it A+ without accreditation. One item in the register needs a phone call.

Why we chose them

  • The register lists two licensees, 1056PW and 2225PW, both carrying the P and W phase codes.
  • Both licensees currently show a status of insurance expired in the state register.
  • Insurance lapsed on September 1, 2026, so ask for a current certificate before work starts.
  • The licenses themselves run to June 2027, with no disciplinary action of any kind.

Address: Raleigh — 2906 Tryon Rd., Ste. 101

Team Pest USA

Termites, mosquitoes and wildlife are all handled here, which puts the company in the small group on this list covering all three, and inspections are free. BBB rates it A+ without accreditation. The company is North Carolina based and is not part of a national chain. Documentation is the thinnest on this list, though, and most of what the company publishes cannot be checked against an outside record.

Why we chose them

  • No state license record matched the published phone number, so no P or W phase licensing could be confirmed.
  • Every other company on this list cleared that register check.
  • The site and the BBB profile publish different phone numbers, and no address appears on the site.
  • The site says since 1971 against a BBB start of 1995, and no service area is published.
  • Guarantee wording is soft with no stated terms.

Address: Raleigh — 7424 ACC Blvd., Ste. 107
