The best house cleaning services in the Raleigh area

House cleaning is not a licensed trade in North Carolina. There is no state license, no registration, no certification and no body that disciplines house cleaners. Every claim you will read about bonding, insurance and background checks is the company's own claim on its own website, and no third party has checked any of it.

So this guide compares what is comparable: whether the guarantee has terms or just wording, whether the cleaners are employees or contractors, whether a green claim rests on a certification anyone can look up, and whether Wake Forest is inside the service area. Five of the ten name it.

We have not hired any of these companies and nobody paid to be listed. Every license, rating and date below was checked against the issuing board or the Better Business Bureau on the date at the foot of this guide. Anything a company claims that we could not verify is described as a claim.

How we chose

Every company here has a working website of its own and a BBB record with no unanswered complaints. Companies flagged by BBB as out of business were dropped, as were two whose websites do not resolve.

The single most useful thing to look for is a guarantee with a deadline attached. Five of these ten publish one, usually a re-clean within 24 hours, and a guarantee with a window is enforceable in a way that satisfaction guaranteed is not. Only one company's green claim rests on a third-party certification. And before you hand over a key, ask for a certificate of insurance, because nothing on this page substitutes for one. Entries are alphabetical and unranked.

Best Clean Ever

A deadline is what turns a guarantee into something you can hold a cleaner to, and this company publishes one. Fourteen towns are listed in the service area, Wake Forest among them, and quotes are free. BBB rates the company A+ without accreditation, on a file that starts in 2016. Products are described as safe everyday cleaners rather than certified green, and the site gives no founding year.

Why we chose them

  • If you are not satisfied for any reason, tell the company within 24 hours.
  • Bonded and insured is the company's own claim, with no licensing body behind it, so ask for the certificate.
  • Background checks are not claimed and staffing is not described.
  • The site and the BBB record give different street addresses.

Address: Raleigh — 2801 Spring Forest Rd., Ste. 103 (BBB records a Hargrove Rd. address)

Class Act Maid Service

At about 40 years, this is the longest-established cleaning company on the list, with a BBB file opened in 1998 and site and BBB broadly agreeing on a mid-1980s start. Wake Forest is named in the service area and in-home consultations are free. The catch is what is absent: on the questions that protect a customer, the company publishes noticeably less than the competitors around it, and BBB rates it A+ without accreditation.

Why we chose them

  • The address matches between the site and the BBB record, which half this list cannot say.
  • No guarantee and no re-clean policy are published.
  • Unusually for this trade, no claim to be bonded, insured or background-checked is made at all.
  • Who does the work is not described, so ask before you hand over a key.

Address: Raleigh — 3688 Capital Blvd.

The Cleaning Authority – Southeast Raleigh

Of everyone on this list, the service area here lines up closest to where our readers live: Clayton, Garner, Knightdale, Raleigh, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell and Zebulon. The guarantee carries a deadline, in-home estimates are free, and eco-friendly products are used. The franchise trades as J2R2 under owner John Clark, and the BBB file opens only in 2018, which makes this a younger operation than most of its neighbors here.

Why we chose them

  • If you are unhappy with any area cleaned, the company returns the next day.
  • Full screening, bonding and insurance are claimed by the company itself.
  • BBB has it Not Rated for insufficient information, with no letter grade to lean on.
  • The site and the BBB record give different addresses and different phone numbers, one Raleigh and one Wake Forest.

Address: Raleigh — 4229 Louisburg Rd., Ste. 117 (BBB records a Wake Forest address)

Cura Maids

Wake Forest sits inside a service area that covers Raleigh and most of Wake County, and the guarantee attached to it comes with terms. Cleaning products are EPA-approved and eco-friendly. The company says every cleaner passes a background check and reference verification, and that it is fully insured and bonded, all of it the company's own account. BBB rates it A+ without accreditation, and the founding date arrives three different ways.

Why we chose them

  • The guarantee promises a free re-clean of the affected areas within 24 hours.
  • The site says since 2015, while BBB records the LLC as formed in 2023 and local operation from 2010.
  • The site and the BBB record give different addresses, so confirm which one is current.
  • Whether cleaners are employees or contractors is unpublished, which changes who is insured.

Address: Raleigh — 5020-B Departure Dr. (BBB records a Professional Ct. address)

Dust and Mop House Cleaning of Raleigh

Who actually turns up matters in this trade, and few companies here say it as plainly: the people cleaning your house are employees rather than contractors, and they are background checked. The guarantee has terms and quotes are free. The thing to sort out first is location, since the site and the BBB record place the business in two different towns, Raleigh and Apex, so confirm which office you are booking.

Why we chose them

  • A re-clean is offered if any part of the job fell short, provided you call back within 24 hours.
  • Bonding and insurance are claimed by the company itself, so ask to see both.
  • BBB rates it A+ without accreditation, on a file starting in 2009.
  • The service area lists Raleigh, Garner, Cary, Apex, Morrisville, Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina, without Wake Forest.

Address: Raleigh — 1631 Midtown Pl., Ste. 144 (BBB records an Apex address)

ecomaids of North Raleigh

Certification is the difference here: the products carry EPA Safer Choice and Green Seal marks, both third-party programs anyone can look up. The company is also explicit that cleaners are employees and that it uses no independent contractors, and it claims background screening, work authorization checks, bonding and insurance. The checkable BBB record, though, belongs to a different franchise unit at another address.

Why we chose them

  • The BBB profile we located, rated A+, is for the Cary franchise at a different address and phone.
  • This unit's own rating and start date could not be confirmed.
  • A 24-hour guarantee is advertised, with no detailed terms published.
  • No street address and no founding year appear on the site.
  • Wake Forest is not named in the service area.

Address: Raleigh — north Raleigh, no street address published

Enovana Green Cleaning

Green cleaning is the whole pitch here, and not an add-on: natural products built around a proprietary castile-soap formula, from a Raleigh local independent with no franchise behind it. If chemical sensitivity in the house is the reason you are hiring someone, this is the first call to make. What the company does not publish is nearly everything else, and a reader who wants to check it before booking will come up short.

Why we chose them

  • Neither an address nor a phone number appears on the company's own site; both come from BBB.
  • No pricing, free-estimate policy, service area or staffing detail is published.
  • No claim to be bonded, insured or background-checked is made anywhere on the site.
  • The guarantee is soft wording with no terms attached.
  • BBB has it Not Rated for insufficient information, and the site's 150 years is a combined team figure.

Address: Raleigh — 5878 Faringdon Pl.

Maid Brigade of Raleigh

Screened, trained, insured employees on the company's own payroll do the work here, and green cleaning runs as a standing service, not an upsell. Estimates are free. The BBB file opens in 2007, which makes this one of the longer-running operations on the list, though the site itself says only decades of trusted experience, so the two accounts cannot be lined up precisely.

Why we chose them

  • BBB has it Not Rated for insufficient information, so there is no letter grade.
  • Insurance is claimed by the company, while bonding is not claimed separately.
  • No street address, pricing or guarantee terms are published.
  • The service area covers Apex, Cary, Durham, Garner, Holly Springs and Morrisville, without Wake Forest.

Address: Raleigh — 2617 Rowland Rd., Ste. 100

MaidPro of the Triangle

The brand's Greener Cleaning program runs at this location, and the company says its cleaners are background checked before employment, which implies they are employees, though that is never stated outright. Bonding and insurance are claimed, and estimates are free. Two details need a phone call before booking: the header at the top of the company's own page, and where the published service area stops.

Why we chose them

  • The site headers the page as MaidPro Morrisville while giving a Raleigh address.
  • Apex, Carrboro, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Garner, Holly Springs, Morrisville, Pittsboro and Raleigh are covered, without Wake Forest.
  • No guarantee or re-clean policy is published, and the site gives no founding year.
  • BBB rates it A+ without accreditation, on a file starting in 2008.

Address: Raleigh — 1013 Bullard Ct., Ste. 202

Two Maids Raleigh

Fourteen towns appear in the service area here, the widest on this list, and it takes in Wake Forest, Knightdale, Zebulon, Rolesville and Clayton along with Raleigh, Durham and Cary. The address matches between the site and the BBB record, which more than half this list cannot manage. Estimates are free, and the company claims thorough training, background checks, bonding and insurance. Most of the rest has to be asked about.

Why we chose them

  • BBB has it Not Rated for insufficient information, on a file starting in 2017.
  • BBB records it as a sole proprietorship under franchise ownership.
  • No guarantee terms, re-clean policy, pricing or staffing detail are published.
  • Green cleaning is not offered here.

Address: Raleigh — 6308 Angus Dr., Ste. D
