Fall Arts Fair
10 a.m.-4 p.m. · Fred Fletcher Park
An outdoor arts fair at Fred Fletcher Park, free to attend, with work for sale from local artists alongside demonstrations.
The demonstration element is what separates an arts fair from a craft market. Watching somebody throw a pot or pull a print changes what you are willing to pay for the finished object, which is rather the point.
What to expect:
- Local artists selling directly
- Live demonstrations across disciplines
- A range of price points, from small prints to gallery pieces
- Family activities
Fred Fletcher Park sits just north-west of downtown off Glenwood Avenue, and it is one of the more pleasant small parks in the city for an event of this size. It is walkable from the Glenwood South restaurants, which makes lunch afterwards straightforward.
Our read: early November is the right time to visit an arts fair if you buy anything as a gift. You are ahead of the December rush, the artists still have full stock rather than remainders, and you can talk to them without a line behind you.
A six-hour window with a 10 a.m. start means the morning is for serious buyers and the afternoon is for browsing. If you want first pick of a particular maker's work, be there early.
Free to attend.
Bring a bag and a rough idea of what you are looking for. Arts fairs reward people who came with a wall in mind rather than a general intention to browse.
