Apex Latino Arts Festival

3-7 p.m. · Apex Town Campus, 63 Hunter Street

This event has already happened. See what's coming up

An afternoon and early evening of Latino art, music and performance on the Apex town campus, free and family-friendly.

A 3 to 7 p.m. slot is a deliberate and sensible choice. It avoids the midday heat of late September, it catches people after the Saturday errands, and it finishes early enough that families with young children can still do a normal bedtime.

What the festival covers:

  • Visual art from Latino artists
  • Live music
  • Dance and performance
  • Food
  • Activities for children

Our read: arts-led cultural festivals are a different proposition from food-led ones and tend to be considerably less crowded, which makes them better if you actually want to look at the work and talk to the people who made it. If you have been put off Latino festivals by the scale of the bigger ones, this is the gentler version.

The Apex town campus on Hunter Street sits immediately alongside the downtown core, so parking and the walk in are the same as for anything else in central Apex.

Free to attend, no registration.

Four hours is a manageable length for an arts event, and it rewards a slow walk rather than a circuit. Talk to the artists. At a festival this size they are standing beside their own work with time to explain it, which is not true at the larger county events.
