Witherspoon Student Union
About
The Witherspoon Student Union is one of NC State’s student centers, on Cates Avenue in Raleigh, and it is often called simply the Witherspoon Center. It carries the name of Augustus M. Witherspoon, the university’s first African American professor, and honors his dedication to mentoring students while he worked as a researcher, a professor, and a leader in the community.
Several student resource centers keep their offices inside the building, so it is a working part of campus day to day as well as a tribute to the man whose name it carries.
