The Crafts Center at North Carolina State University

The Crafts Center at NC State is a set of working studios on Jensen Drive, run on the principle that the arts belong to everyone. Classes and workshops are offered each semester, and the studios stay busy from one term to the next.

Woodworking, pottery, photography, fiber arts, lapidary, glass, jewelry and mixed media all have space here, and other fine arts turn up in the schedule depending on the term. Someone picking up a tool for the first time is as welcome as someone who has done it for twenty years.

What to know

• Members can use the studios whenever classes are not in session.
• A studio schedule shows when each space is free.
• Registration opens ahead of each semester’s classes and workshops.
• The center worked with an anthropology class on hands-on study of human expression and technology.
• Staff have collaborated on Material Landscapes, a ceramics project with a materials science professor.
