Sharky’s Place is a neighborhood sports bar on Duraleigh Road in Raleigh, going on 40 years and happy to call itself the best neighborhood bar in the world. It has been one of the city’s top neighborhood sports bars for more than three decades.
Founder Jack Pinkstaff hung up his spurs in 2012, and Randy and Simone Wilson took a swing at keeping the Raleigh icon running. A new kitchen now turns out Louisiana gumbo, red beans and rice, smoked brisket, and the bar’s smoked wings.
