Rebus Works

Rebus Works is a gallery on Kinsey Street in Raleigh that opened in 2003 and has been run by artists, for artists, since the beginning. It grew out of a partnership between two local artists who wanted a room of their own to work with.

The gallery is still small and still tied to the community around it, which was the founding idea and is the one the current owner keeps to. More than twenty years in, that part has not changed.

What to know

• Photographer Shonna Greenwell and printmaker Lee Moore founded the gallery together.
• It has favored media and artists that other Raleigh galleries feature less often.
• Greenwell owns it today and also runs PH7 Fine Art Framing.
