About
RUMAH, the Raleigh United Mutual Aid Hub, is a volunteer-led social center on Hillsborough Street, funded by the community it serves. It was established in 2023 and has since platformed hundreds of events, activist groups, and community initiatives.
The space works as a meeting place, a co-working spot, and a venue for people organizing around the city. Everything runs on volunteers and donations, and the donations go through a fiscal sponsor so the books stay publicly accountable. A move to a new location is planned for late 2026.

- INDY’s Best of the Triangle named it Best Local Activist Group for Wake County in 2025.
- The same awards named it Best Co-Working Space.
- It was a runner-up for Best Nonprofit, Best Kids’ Nonprofit, and Best Alcohol-Free Venue.
- Hack Club is its fiscal sponsor, which gives it 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.
