Raleigh Little Theatre

About

Raleigh Little Theatre began in 1936, when a group of local performers joined forces with technical workers from the Federal Theatre. Ninety years on, it is one of the oldest community theaters in the country still putting on shows, and its campus on Pogue Street is a WPA landmark.

The season mixes mainstage productions with children’s theater. Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star is written for very young audiences, and the theater describes its purpose as enriching, educating, entertaining, and engaging. Nine decades of that work sit behind the current season.

What to know

  • The Raleigh Rose Garden sits on the same campus and is open to visitors.
  • That garden is one of three accredited rose gardens in the Carolinas.
  • It is the display garden for new roses presented by the All American Rose Society.
  • An archive of past shows and events is kept for anyone curious about earlier seasons.
