Philharmonic Association – Triangle Youth Music

About

Triangle Youth Music, formerly the Philharmonic Association, is a youth music education organization based on Linda Court in Cary. It runs orchestras and jazz ensembles at several levels, so a student can move up as the playing gets stronger.

The whole thing started in 1988, when thirty-five high school musicians from around the Triangle came together to form an orchestra. Thousands of young players have passed through since. What holds it together is the experience of performing with other people, and the friendships that come out of a shared stage.

What to know

  • The first concert was held on May 22, 1988.
  • The Triangle Youth Philharmonic grew into a full symphony orchestra soon afterward.
  • A jazz program was added in 2005.
  • The organization has worked with the Cary Ballet, the Raleigh Youth Choir, and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
