North Carolina State Legislative Building

The North Carolina Legislative Building is the five-domed marble structure on West Jones Street in downtown Raleigh, and it is where the General Assembly meets. It holds the Senate and House chambers, committee rooms, and offices for members and staff.

Members and staff also work out of the Legislative Office Building next door, which holds more committee rooms and offices. The public is welcome in the Legislative Building year round, apart from state holidays, and visitors can sit in and watch the state’s business get done.

What to know

• Admission to the Legislative Building is free for the public.
• Parking on the legislative complex is reserved for members and authorized staff.
• Visitor lot 1 is at the corner of Jones and Wilmington streets.
• Visitor lot 2 is in parking deck 75 on North Salisbury Street.
