North Carolina State Capitol
About
The North Carolina State Capitol stands on East Edenton Street in downtown Raleigh and has been the seat of state government since it opened in June 1840. It is one of the finest and best-preserved major civic buildings in the Greek Revival style anywhere in the country.
Visitors can walk through the building and see the chambers and offices where the state’s business was carried out for well over a century. For anyone who cannot get there in person, the site keeps a set of material to read through instead.
