About
Monya is a ramen bar and izakaya in Glenwood Place, next door to Sushi Mon. Chef and co-owner Chris Lee runs both. It held its grand opening on July 12, 2026 after a soft opening the News & Observer reported sold 400 dollar bowls in two days.
The room is split, with a ramen and noodle bar on one side and an izakaya on the other. Broths are tonkotsu, tori on chicken and yasai on vegetables, with a birria ramen as the outlier. The yasai is the vegetarian bowl. Bowls run $18 to $20, and the lot is shared with the sushi restaurant.
