Memorial Auditorium at Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts

About

Raleigh Memorial Auditorium is the biggest of the four halls inside the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, on East South Street downtown. With 2,354 seats, it takes the touring Broadway shows, the large concerts and the productions that need the room.

The complex around it is busy year-round, holding more than 600 events and welcoming over 400,000 guests each year. The other three rooms take smaller work, so a symphony program and a touring show can share one building. It is a central piece of downtown’s cultural life.

What to know

  • Four resident companies work out of the center: Carolina Ballet, NC Opera, the North Carolina Symphony and PineCone.
  • Meymandi Concert Hall, the second-largest room, seats 1,587 people.
  • A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater holds 600, and Kennedy Theatre is the fourth space.
  • National tours and touring performers appear across the center’s venues.
