About
MC Restaurant is a local, independent kitchen on South Academy Street in Cary, where the cooking pulls from both East and West. The dining room is meant to be elegant without feeling stiff, and the staff is friendly.
Chef Chuong runs it. He worked his way up to Chef de Cuisine at Le Continent, the Inter-Continental Hotel’s five-star restaurant, and by 1993 he was known as one of the best chefs in New Orleans. He came to Cary as executive chef at Prestonwood Country Club before opening a restaurant of his own.
What to know
- Chuong won gold and silver medals and a Best of Show at American Culinary Federation competitions.
- He was a guest chef for the Inter-Continental Hotels of Hawaii and Colombia.
- In 1992 he became partner and chef in opening a restaurant called Delargo.
- He turned down offers in Singapore and Hanoi, with four young daughters at home.
