Gregg Museum of Art & Design

The Gregg Museum of Art & Design is NC State’s museum, out on Hillsborough Street at the edge of campus. It occupies the historic Chancellor’s Residence, and its exhibitions and programs draw on the university’s collections and on the work going on across its departments.

The museum has moved around over the years. It grew out of space inside Talley Student Center, spent a stretch in a temporary home, and reopened in the Chancellor’s Residence in August 2017. That building has been its address ever since.

What to know

• The Friends of the Gregg support group was established in 1983.
• It became the Visual Arts Center when an addition to Talley opened in 1992.
• The museum took its present name in 2007 to honor John and Nancy Gregg.
• The Greggs were among its most dedicated and beloved supporters.
