Grasshopper Farms

Grasshopper Farms is a plant nursery and family outing on Poole Road in Knightdale, open year-round. The building was an old country store that had been left to decay until the current owners bought it in 2020 and brought it back.

The country store now sells the farm’s own jams, jellies and sauces alongside local honey, farm fresh eggs, cheeses, breads and Amish butter. Outside there is a garden shop, an ice cream shop, a gem mine and a fun park, so a visit can fill an afternoon.

What to know

• Strawberries are pick-your-own in spring and summer, when fresh produce also comes in.
• A four-acre corn maze opens in fall, along with pumpkins.
• Christmas trees and wreaths are sold on the farm in winter.
• The ice cream counter stays open through every season.
