GoCary
About
GoCary is the Town of Cary’s public transit system, based on North Academy Street in downtown Cary. It runs fixed bus routes and publishes trip planning tools, maps, schedules, and a system-wide route map, plus notices whenever service changes.
Alongside the regular buses, GoCary runs a Door to Door service that registered riders reserve ahead of time through a reservation center. The system started out as C-Tran in 2001 after a year of planning, and it opened up to the general public the following year, in 2002.
What to know
- Door to Door riders need approval first, and then they can start making reservations.
- A rider with an uncertain return time can call dispatch after an appointment to arrange a pickup.
- The original Door to Door service covered seniors age 60 and older and riders with disabilities.
- GoCary publishes employee spotlights that introduce individual staff members.
