Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy

About

The Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy is the nonprofit partner of the City of Raleigh for Dix Park, with an office on Umstead Drive on the park grounds. Its job is supporting the long transformation of the land into a public park, raising private support for something the city owns.

The thinking behind it is simple enough: great parks define great cities, and Dix Park is on its way to becoming one of the finest in the country. Getting there takes money, hands and patience, and the Conservancy is set up to supply the first two.

What to know

  • Donations to the Conservancy go toward the future of the park.

  • The site explains the park project’s past, present and future along with the Conservancy’s role.
  • An event calendar lists what is happening on the grounds.
  • A team page introduces the staff working behind the scenes.
