Cup a Joe has been a Raleigh coffee institution since 1991, with its longtime cafe on Hillsborough Street near NC State. It is the kind of place where the owner recognizes regulars and says good morning. Three decades on, it is still a gathering place as much as a coffee shop.
The beans are roasted in house, to order, so the coffee stays fresh. The Mission Valley shop reopened in August 2025 after three years closed, and the two cafes now run side by side again.
