Burning Coal Theatre
About
Burning Coal Theatre Company is a professional theater on Polk Street in Raleigh, and it has been part of the city’s stage life for close to thirty years. Jerome Davis and Simmie Kastner, who are married, founded it in 1995, moved to Raleigh the following year and staged their first production here in 1997.
The company performs at the historic Murphey School Auditorium downtown, a building it finished renovating in 2008. Its fall tradition is the Oakwood Cemetery Series, a run of short outdoor plays written by Raleigh and Triangle playwrights.
