Lake Crabtree County Park

About

Lake Crabtree County Park is a Wake County park on Aviation Parkway at the eastern edge of Morrisville, between I-40 and the lake, on land leased from the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. Wake County Parks, Recreation & Open Space runs it.

The lake is the draw. The park has a two-lane boat ramp and car-top launch areas open year-round, seasonal boat rentals, a fishing pier and platform, three picnic shelters with grills and horseshoe pits, traditional and natural playgrounds, restrooms and a 6-mile Lake Trail. Its mountain bike trails closed in June 2025 when part of the leased land went back to the airport.

What to know

  • Kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and pedal boats are free for the first two hours with a photo ID.
  • Shelters are reserved online or by phone; same-day rentals and food trucks are not allowed.
  • Fishing is catch-and-release only under a PCB advisory dating to 2004.
  • Private boats may use only non-gasoline motors on the lake.
  • The county’s 2026 boating sheet limits rentals to Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from mid-May to early September.
