About
Bearded Bee Brewing Company is a Wendell brewery on East Campen Street that started with honey. In 2017 Derek Ayscue’s apiary made more than he could give away to friends and family, and the brewing followed from there.
The beer is traditional craft, made in small batches on a micro-brew system, and the motto is Bee Local, Drink Local. The taproom is about 20 minutes from downtown Raleigh, which puts it within reach without feeling like a city bar. Derek is a partner, brewer and beekeeper all at once.

- Keri, a partner, spent 16 years as a commercial interior designer and designed the building renovation.
- Dave Stebbins came on as operations manager in 2021 after years in local restaurants and breweries.
- Ben Mueller joined the brewing side in April 2025.
