Mordecai Historic Park
About
Mordecai Historic Park is a 3.2-acre City of Raleigh site in the Mordecai neighborhood just north of downtown. The Mordecai House, built around 1785 and expanded in 1826, is the oldest house in Raleigh still standing on its original ground.
The birthplace of President Andrew Johnson, a small structure from the 1790s, was moved onto the site and stands among the other historic buildings. The grounds are free to walk. Guided tours leave the visitor center at the top of the hour for a modest charge, with children six and under admitted free, and public tours pause when school groups are on site. Parking is free.
