The Capital Grille

About

The Capital Grille is a steakhouse on Six Forks Road in north Raleigh, near North Hills. It is the formal end of the steak business, the kind of dining room meant for a long dinner, a bottle worth discussing and a table you are in no hurry to leave.

Two preparations carry the menu. The mushroom-rubbed ribeye comes with balsamic, and the strip au poivre arrives under a cognac cream sauce. Either one of them is usually the reason people booked the table in the first place.

What to know

  • In-house butchers hand-carve each steak to the restaurant’s own standards.
  • The wine list is deep, with a large selection to match the beef.
  • Private dining rooms are available for groups and business dinners.
  • The first Capital Grille opened in 1990 in Providence’s Union Station.
  • The Seattle restaurant occupies the Beaux-Arts Cobb Building, built in 1910.
