Lake Wheeler Park
About
Lake Wheeler Park covers about 800 acres at 6404 Lake Wheeler Road in Southwest Raleigh, 650 acres of which is the lake itself. The lake was built in 1956 and now forms part of the city’s water supply.
There are kayak and paddleboard rentals, boat ramps and picnic facilities. Gate hours change several times a year and run longest in summer.
