West Raleigh Presbyterian Church

About

West Raleigh Presbyterian Church sits on Horne Street near the NC State campus. It was established in 1927 on what was then the western edge of Raleigh, across from North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering. The name fit the geography then, even if the city has long since grown past it.

It is a Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation, with Bible-based liturgy and preaching meant to reach both heart and mind. The welcome is wide: the church says there is a place there for anyone, whoever they are and wherever they find themselves in life.

What to know

  • In-person worship is held every Sunday.
  • Music is a substantial part of the services.
  • The Session and the Board of Deacons govern the church together.
  • The congregation reaches out to the campus, the city and the world beyond.
  • Welcoming ministry and loving mission are the two emphases members name most.
