Weaver Street Market

About

Weaver Street Market is a community-owned grocery cooperative, and its Raleigh store sits on West Hargett Street downtown. The shelves lean toward natural foods, with produce from growers who are Certified Naturally Grown or USDA Organic. There are weekly specials, and a food bar covers lunch if you are not shopping for the week.

Anyone can shop here, and anyone can also buy in as an owner, which is the part that makes a co-op different from a regular grocery. There are sibling stores in Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough.

What to know

  • A one-time $75 share buys ownership, and the share is fully refundable.
  • Shoppers with an active EBT card qualify for a free owner share.
  • New owners receive a welcome package when they join.
  • The co-op has bought from Deal Orchards, a local partner, since 2017.
  • Ownership can also be given as a gift to someone else.
