The Wilmont
About
The Wilmont is a 1926 apartment building on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh, renovated in a way that kept its period character intact. There are only 24 homes in the building, which is part of what makes living there different from a modern complex.
The renovation honored the building’s 1920s architecture, so the old details and the newer work sit side by side in each apartment. Renting here means living in a piece of the city’s designated history, and the building has the paperwork to prove it.
What to know
- Original hardwood floors were kept through the renovation.
- Vintage crystal doorknobs and stained glass entrances are still in place.
- The kitchens were redone with designer finishes.
- The city declared The Wilmont a historic landmark on December 29, 2010.
- A revised Raleigh Historic Landmark Designation application was submitted earlier that year.
