Southeast Raleigh Promise
About
Southeast Raleigh Promise works with neighbors along the Rock Quarry Road corridor, with an office on South Wilmington Street. The aim is a neighborhood where everyone can do well, built on the belief that any neighborhood should be a place of opportunity for the people already living there.
The organization talks about roots: nurturing the ones already in the ground and making room for new ones to be planted. That framing shapes the work, since the people it serves are the same people who shaped it.
What to know
- The group grew out of community listening sessions that began in 2011.
- Those sessions started as a look at expanding YMCA services in southeast Raleigh.
- It was created in 2015 as the Community Quarterback and incubated under the YMCA of the Triangle.
- It became an independent, tax-exempt private nonprofit in 2017.
