Sola Coffee Cafe
About
Sola Coffee Cafe is a family-owned neighborhood cafe on Lead Mine Road in north Raleigh. John and Jeanne Luther opened it in March 2012, and it serves Counter Culture coffee along with fresh food through the day.
It works as a gathering place as much as a cafe, somewhere people meet, talk, and get to know one another. Breakfast and lunch are both served, and the owners speak about the city and their customers as the reason the place is what it is. The family has run the place since the start.
What to know
- Jeanne Luther was diagnosed with ALS in August 2018 and died in April 2022.
- Since her diagnosis the cafe has raised more than half a million dollars for ALS.
- An effort called I Believe in Raleigh collects donations through the cafe.
- Job openings with the cafe are posted on its website.
