Raleigh Crime Stoppers

Raleigh CrimeStoppers is a nonprofit that works with the police, the news media, and the public to keep information about crime moving. The anonymous tip is the center of everything it does, usually a confidential phone call or a text message.

People who know something about a crime but do not want to be identified can pass it along without giving a name. The organization is based on Hillsborough Street and depends on public support to keep going, since the tip line only works if people know it is there.

What to know

• Tips can be left by phone, by text, or through an online form.
• Cash rewards are offered for information that leads to an arrest.
• The reward is meant to encourage people who might otherwise stay quiet.
• Donations are accepted online, and supporters can sign up as regular donors.
• The group’s slogan is that crime doesn’t pay but CrimeStoppers does.
