North Carolina Opera

North Carolina Opera is based on National Drive in Raleigh and puts on opera for audiences around the state. Its starting position is that opera belongs to everyone, and not to a narrow circle of people who already know the repertoire by heart.

The company’s stated mission is to add to the cultural life of North Carolina by presenting productions that are artistically significant and performed at a high standard. What it publishes about itself is brief, so the season announcements are the best place to see what that means in practice.
