North Carolina Freedom Park
About
North Carolina Freedom Park is a small public green space on North Wilmington Street in downtown Raleigh, within easy walking distance of the state government buildings around it. The whole park takes up a single acre of ground.
It was built as a tribute to the African American struggle for freedom in this state and beyond it, and to the ideals of liberty, resilience and equality that struggle was aimed at. It is a place to stop and take a few quiet minutes in the middle of a downtown day.
