Hopper Piano

Hopper Piano has been part of the Raleigh piano scene for well over fifty years, and the showroom is on Tillery Place. Pianos, digital pianos and organs are all sold there. The room is spacious and relaxed, with no pressure on anyone who walks in to look around.

The business started in 1959 and took its big turn in 1977, when it was asked to represent Steinway & Sons. Customers often arrive because a friend told them they had to visit Hopper before buying anywhere else, which says something about how the place is run.

What to know

• The store has won Steinway’s top customer service award four times.
• Piano and organ servicing for local churches is a long-running sideline.
• Instrument restoration is offered for Steinway pianos of any age.
• A selection appointment can be booked before coming in to choose.
