El Dorado sits on Creedmoor Road in northwest Raleigh and serves Mexican food with a bit of sizzle to it. The idea behind the place traveled with the Ayala family from Jalisco and Guadalajara. It is a straightforward neighborhood Mexican restaurant with a long history behind it.
Isabel and Elena Ayala opened the first El Dorado in Raleigh in 1987 and worked hard for it. What started as one restaurant has become a family business spread around the Triangle. Thirty-five years on, Isabel Ayala’s vision has become a reality.
