Dix Park Dog Park
About
The Dix Park Dog Park is a large off-leash area inside Dorothea Dix Park, Raleigh’s 308-acre park south of downtown. The ground is grass instead of gravel, which gives dogs room to run and something softer to land on.
Small and large dogs have separate areas, so a nervous little dog is not stuck sharing a field with a pack of retrievers. Owners tend to settle in and stay a while, and when the dog has had enough, the rest of the park is right there to walk off the last of it.
What to know
- A water station includes a fountain, a bottle and bowl filler, and a dog fountain.
- Park signs direct visitors to call Animal Control about a disruptive dog.
- Other safety concerns go to the Raleigh Police Department’s non-emergency line.
- In an emergency, visitors are told to call 9-1-1.
