Bella Monica is an Italian restaurant in Olde Raleigh Village, off Edwards Mill Road. Chef Corbett Monica and Julie Monica own it, and they have kept it a family operation since it opened as a neighborhood trattoria in 2000.
Diners have voted it the best Italian in Raleigh. The cooking is the comfortable end of the repertoire: lasagne, spaghetti and meatballs, pizza. The family describes the restaurant as an extension of Nana’s table, and the wine bar is usually where the neighborhood ends up once the plates are cleared.
