The Band of Oz is a beach music band and a Carolina tradition going back fifty years, one of the best known groups of its kind in the Southeast. Its mailing address is in Raleigh, and it still plays the music its audiences grew up with.
A night with the band is a dancing night, with horns, harmonies and the shag songs people have been hearing since they were teenagers. They have kept some of the best reviews in the entertainment business across all that time.

- The group started in the mid-sixties as a guitar and keyboard band playing school sock hops.
- It took the name Band of Oz in 1970, when most members came from the Greenville area.
- The band went full time in late 1976, with members living between Raleigh and Greenville.
- Its first single, Shaggin’, was released in 1978.
- Ocean Boulevard, recorded in 1982, was voted Beach Music song of the year.
